Dan LeMaitre is a professional photographer born and raised on Nantucket Island.
Growing up on island, constantly surrounded by the North Atlantic, Dan developed a close relationship with the ocean. An avid surfer and fisherman (and restless teenager living out in Madaket), he picked up his first camera at the age of fourteen. With little interest in organized sports, it quickly became a creative outlet for him during his youth.
After graduating Nantucket High in 2011, Dan began to travel. His obsession with surfing and photography pushed him to distant shores over the following decade. In his early twenties, at the peak of his surf traveling years, Dan lived in Australia, California, the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, Indonesia, the Caribbean, Central America, South America and the Baja Peninsula over various winters, always with a camera in hand and always returning home to Nantucket where he continues to permanently reside to this day.
In summer of 2017, at the age of 24, Dan opened his first gallery space on Nantucket, showcasing limited edition prints of his favorite photographs created at home and throughout his travels. Today he continues to live on island year round and his current downtown gallery is located at 26 Easy St.
